Detailed Introduction And Usage of PTFE Packing

Pure PTFE Gland Packing Advantages:
Strict Material Selection: Made of high-quality materials, it has good sealing performance and is acid and alkali resistant.
High Hardness: The material is hard and has high strength, making it not easily damaged or aged.
Durable: The thickened material is more durable, with standard sizes available for immediate supply.
PTFE Packing Cutting and Installation Details:
Use a cutting machine to precisely cut the required length of packing rings. If there is no packing cutting machine, cut the packing according to the length L = (shaft diameter d + packing width s) X 1.07 X π. For rotating shafts, use a 90° straight cut, and for valves, use a 45° cut.

Never attempt to determine the length by wrapping the packing around the packing box. Alternatively, wrap the packing around a pipe with the same diameter as the valve stem, press it tightly, but do not stretch the packing. Then cut it into a sample ring to check if it fills the space correctly, ensuring there are no gaps at the joints. Then use the sample ring as a standard to cut the other packing rings.

If these products are completed on a flat surface and the packing is soft or easily deformed, a small strip can be made based on the sample ring, and then this strip can be used to make the remaining packing rings.
When used in valves, the packing cross-section should be the same as the internal space of the valve, preferably a pre-compressed ring.

When used in pumps, the packing cross-section should be slightly smaller than the valve space (about 0.3mm-0.6mm) to allow for a slight leakage gap between the shaft and the packing, which is beneficial for lubrication and heat dissipation. Install one packing ring at a time, ensuring there is no dust or other debris on each packing.

If necessary, lubricate the packing rings with the same clean lubricating oil used on the valve stem. Install each packing ring alternately at a 90° angle to the shaft and slowly open the ring along the shaft.
