First.Overview
Coated fabric is coated with a layer of coating material on the surface of the fabric to achieve the effect of changing the performance of the fabric. Fabrics can be natural fiber fabrics, synthetic chemical fiber fabrics and inorganic fiber fabrics. Coating materials can be organic and synthetic polymer materials, inorganic non-metallic materials and metal materials, etc. According to different performance requirements, the performance of the fabric can be improved through coating to achieve different application effects.
Second.The characteristics of glass fiber
Glass fiber has the advantages of temperature resistance, flame retardancy, corrosion resistance, high strength, high electrical insulation and tensile strength, small relative elongation, chemical stability and high elastic modulus. But relatively speaking, its wear resistance and yield resistance are poor, its strength loss is large after the temperature resistance exceeds, and its chemical stability is limited. These are its fatal shortcomings.
Glass fiber coated fabric is to give full play to the inherent performance characteristics of glass fiber, and at the same time use coating materials to further improve the performance of glass fiber fabric or give new performance to glass fiber fabric to meet the needs of various application fields.
There are generally two ways of fabric coating pretreatment:
1. According to the performance of the coating material, use a special sizing agent for wire drawing and weaving, and apply it directly for coating.
2. The glass fiber fabric is applied for coating after dewaxing and surface treatment.
The above two methods have their own advantages and disadvantages, and should be selected according to the actual situation.
Third.Properties of commonly used coating materials
1. Silicon Rubber
Silicone rubber has developed rapidly in recent years, and its application fields are becoming wider and wider. The service temperature range is from -70°C to 350°C. It has good weather resistance and aging resistance.
Good performance, can be used for one or twenty years without changing performance, and also has excellent insulation, hydrophobic, non-stick and other excellent properties.
High-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber is a variety formed by high-temperature vulcanization with peroxide as a vulcanizing agent. It is a general-purpose variety with the largest output and low price. It has certain requirements for the preparation of coating rubber.
Room temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber is divided into one-component and two-component or multi-component room temperature vulcanization. One-component is vulcanized at room temperature after being exposed to air and moisture from a closed state. Two-component and multi-component are vulcanized at room temperature after the components are mixed evenly. The price of room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber is relatively low, but it is difficult to control the coating process. At room temperature, the viscosity of the colloid changes greatly, and it cannot be coated if it is improperly handled or even vulcanized in advance.
Liquid silicone rubber, also known as two-component additive silicone rubber, has good fluidity, fast vulcanization, and can be cast or injected. Liquid cinnamon gum can be cured at room temperature or at high temperature. High temperature curing can complete the curing process within seconds. It is an ideal coating agent for fiberglass fabrics, with high strength and smooth appearance.
2. PTFE
PTFE has excellent chemical stability and corrosion resistance, and is inert and resistant to most chemicals and solvents.

3.PVC

4.PU
Polyurethane coating agent is a type of coating material with a long history of application and rapid development. Its advantages lie in: the coating is soft and elastic

5.Neoprene
Neoprene is a synthetic rubber produced by polymerizing chloroprene as the main raw material. It is widely used in anti-weather products, viscose shoe soles, coatings and rocket fuel.
Fiberglass coating can be coated with both neoprene latex and neoprene solution.
6.Vermiculite
Vermiculite is a natural, non-toxic mineral. After high-temperature roasting, vermiculite flakes can rapidly expand by 6-20 times in volume, and the specific gravity after expansion is 60-180kg/m³, which has strong thermal insulation properties. Vermiculite-coated glass fiber can significantly improve the temperature resistance of the coated fabric. Using the ion exchange ability of vermiculite, it is prepared into a stable suspension for coating.
